Junior 5 a side netball league
Barnes Rocks Lane is the original venue for Friday Night 5s, hosting the first football league game in 1995. Understanding the need to offer a netball version for keen junior players, Rocks Lane launched Friday Night 5s Netball in 2013.
Now with over 50 teams playing every week it has become a popular weekly fixture for the local South West London community.
Built on Friendship, Fair Play and Fun – our Friday evening junior 5-a-side leagues take place at the Rocks Lane Multi Sports Centre, which features a Café, Children’s Playground and Changing Rooms.
From the moment the first whistle blows at 4.30pm, the atmosphere of fun and camaraderie is palpable amongst the junior teams, with matches played over 5 courts it’s an exciting weekly occasion for parents and players alike.

We often hear from parents and children that Friday Night 5s Netball is a very different experience to what they might encounter in a typical junior league. Friendship, Fair Play and Fun are the values of Friday Night 5s netball because they are so important to those who takes part.
The five-a-side format, based around Friendship of players of a similar age, helps create this atmosphere. Friends come together to design, manage and play in a team that is truly theirs: choosing their own team name, designing their team badge and, if they wish, having their own team strip too.
Our Match Rules and Code of Conduct for Players, Parents and Coaches are there to champion Fair Play in the spirit of the sport and ensure Fun for all – win, lose or draw. Umpires assess all matches for Fair Play and a Fair Play Award is given at the end of every week.
Friday Night 5s Netball started off Friday Night Fives in Barnes in 2013. Today we regularly attract almost 140 teams in total every Friday evening across our West London locations. It’s an incredible buzz.
The league officially kicks off at 4.30pm every week. Matches last roughly 40 minutes and our experienced team of umpires and coaches ensure everything runs smoothly whatever the weather!
Friday Night 5s netball teams of all ages that are keen to progress their abilities can work with one of the coaches we have available at Friday Night 5s Barnes.
We run private and open netball coaching classes throughout the week for school year 3 and upwards across all our Rocks Lane venues. A team looking to improve their skills and tactics can have a private coaching class during the week and put the new skills they have learnt into action during their Friday Night 5s match at Barnes, with the same coach providing in-game guidance and advice, as part of our Match Day Manager service. It’s a fantastic way to learn and try out new skills! To find out more about coaching please email us at barnes@rockslane.co.uk
